Grandmother Bonnie…
Grandmother Bonnie, passed today, I loved her with all my heart; my Grandmother was born October 26, 1913 and decided today October 26, 2007; she was tired, so simply closed her eyes, smiled and went to heaven. Bonnie was a spry little woman, she is one of very few who knew me the “real sweet” and loved me for my funkiness. In fact, my grandmother was responsible for buying me my first pack of smokes; she bought me the peace sign earrings my parents refused to allow me to have.
I remember spending time with her during the summer and believe me, she was cool. During one of these stays, I wanted to sleep in the tent in her backyard along with my sister, brother and aunt who is just 18 months older than I am.
Being a good grandmother she tried to tell us that the boogieman would come in the night and take us…of course, I was not going to fall for this silly story…so we got to camp in the backyard…until about 3:00 a.m. When we heard the scary knocking sound, you know the sound like someone being hit in the head…we just kept hearing it repeatedly. We finally looked out the door of the tent and saw a shadow if a hunchback man moving across the yard with a big club in his hand…we all screamed. We were so scared, we started yelling, grandmother, “come outside and gets us we saw the boogieman”…”she replied you wanted to stay out there, so you have to come in on your own.”
So each one of us gather ourselves, made a plan how we would all get to the back door alive…then we ran as fast as our little legs would carry us hit the back door and ran to her bedroom. The night -light was on and it gave us just enough light to see she was in bed with her back turn away from us, however, there was enough room in the bed for all of us, so we jumped in the bed. My grandmother, said “I have been waiting for you” as she turned over you could see a hump on her back and a big club in her hand….we all screamed and she laughed. My grandmother took this plan to great length she was dressed in my granddad’s jeans and shirt and the club was a baseball bat…
There are so many stories and memories…this one just seemed to fix today, since we are so close to Halloween. I am sad for today, but I can say… this great woman help me learn to enjoy a great practical joke….

Sweet’s Humor
Billy Graham was returning
to Charlotte after a
speaking engagement
and when his plane arrived there was a limousine there
to transport him to his home. As he prepared to get
into the limo, he stopped
and spoke to the driver.
“You know” he said, “I am 87 years old
and I have never driven a limousine.
Would you mind if I drove it for a while?”
The driver said, “No problem. Have at it.”
Billy gets into the driver’s seat and they head off
down the highway.
A short distance away sat a rookie State Trooper
operating his first speed trap.
The long black limo went by him doing 70 in a 55 mph zone.
The trooper pulled out
and easily caught the limo
and he got out of his patrol car to begin the procedure.
The young trooper walked up to the driver’s door
and when the glass
was rolled down, he was surprised to see
who was driving.
He immediately excused himself and went back to his car
and called his supervisor.
He told the supervisor,
“I know we are supposed to enforce the law…
But I also know that important people are
given certain courtesies. I need to know what
I should do because I have stopped a
very important person.”
The supervisor asked, “Is it the governor?”
The young trooper said, “No, he’s more important
than that.”
The supervisor said, “Oh, so it’s the president.”
The young trooper said, “No, he’s even more
important than that.”
The supervisor finally asked, “Well then, who is it?”
The young trooper said,
“I think it’s Jesus,
because he’s got Billy Graham for a chauffeur!”

Sweet’s Happy
I am so happy tonight, my best friend Geno brought Josh home for keeps. Geno and Josh are so fortunate to have each other.
Many people believe money and material things makes them happy. However, I disagree…its family; and Geno has a great family to give assistance and support.
There is nothing better in this world than Josh’s love for Geno and Geno’s Love for him…
Blue eyes say it all…I should know I have blue eyes too….
Congratulations, and I love you both….call me if you need me…

Sweet’s Dimes
A couple of weeks ago I was telling my husband about a story I had read recently. This story was about a woman who was making a decision about her life. In this story, a woman, asked God to have her guardian angel leave a dime to confirm her decision. Days and weeks pasted and she had forgotten about the dime…then one day as she was cleaning and there was a dime, and the woman asked, if this dime is from you God, send another…a few days later she found another dime…
As I finished reading this story, in my mind I said, if I am making the right decision about my life God leave me a dime. By making the right decision, I mean….by taking control of my life…and not looking to someone else for my happiness…and I forgot about the dime. A week ago, Saturday, I was working in the front yard…as I swept the porch I heard what sounded like metal hitting the deck… I thought it was my earring… I looked down and there was a dime…all shinny and clean…later that night I told my husband I had found a dime…
Tuesday, last week I received a call from the university I attended from the Director of the Paralegal Program, which is the type degree I mastered two-years ago…she wanted to know if I was interested in teaching… I said yes…and went for my instructor’s interview…the interview went well; in fact I start teaching September 24.
As I drove home from the interview, my mind was a whirl, as I consider all I needed to accomplish between September 5, and the 24th… When I got home on the front porch was path of dimes… leading me to something…? I don’t mean just a few dimes there were hundreds of dimes it looked like a silver brick road…at the end was a dozen coral roses and a card from my husband…in the card he wrote…I will give you a million dimes to find a reason to stay…now this is the man I married…
I have to say, by me taking control of my own feelings, taking care of me, and working at finding what makes me happy, things have started to change in my life. I am expecting the best and nothing less.
However, I had to realize it is my responsibility for my own well-being. I control what happens around me and to me. I am no longer the doormat, I no longer accept being told what to do, I only hear requests.
Love to all,
Sweet
